Did you know you can tame your mind- the place where you travel to unknown places, feel sad, and laugh thinking about a situation that has not happened yet all because of your IMAGINATION? Wouldn’t it be good to control this ever wandering mind of yours by none other than YOU?

Most often our mind creates irrelevant scenarios and triggers us to react to an imaginary world that might not happen in the future or had happened in the past and does not have any value now. As a result, humans stop living in the present and stress over their mind’s made-up situations.

But, the mind when controlled can make human lives more satisfied, balanced, and peaceful. It is us who can do so only and it is not that hard to put our minds. Although, it requires patience and discipline.

So here are some ways on how you can control your mind if your ultimate goal in life is peace and a balanced personal and professional mindset:

1. Do Positive Self-Talk Everyday:

“Never listen to the negative self-critic of your mind. It is more destructive than the words of someone else.”

Being mocked and taunted by the boss, family members and friends is nothing new in a judgmental society. But all these create a sense of low self-esteem and confidence in a person.

Their mind undermines them more by saying, ‘I am worthless, I cannot do this prestigious job. I don’t even know how to handle my life. I am not beautiful like others.’

But don’t do this. The moment you realize you are criticizing yourself just stop.

And start saying positive things like, ‘ Yes, I can do it. I am worthy of great success. I am timeless. What people say about me is just their perception and not the truth. I know who I am and what impact I can bring in this world.”

This will let your mind divert from stress, anxiety, and stop you from imaginary self-pity.

2. Live In The Present:

The one thing the human mind can do best is that it stays in the past and the future rather than the present. This not only wastes a lot of our precious time but also keeps us in an illusion.

The past is gone so stressing about what good or bad happened back then won’t do any better. Similarly thinking about the ‘What if’s of the future is not worthy because that has not even occurred.

So, stay in the moment, work on your present self and never waste any time on your imagination. Train your mind to stay alert every time it goes on a time travel only then you can lead a peaceful life.

3. Meditate:

Meditation is the best form of mind-controlling exercise. Even 10 minutes of meditation every day can help control your mind to a great extent.

Through meditation, our mind stops wandering and learns how to focus on one subject, prioritizes the important matter despite all the other distractions surrounding us.

So, mediate and get the pleasure of having a stable mind.

4. Stop Overthinking:

Overthinking a scenario about what might happen in the interview board or how our child will perform in the exam is just our minds’ way of controlling us.

But we have to control our mind by saying, ‘ Do not worry, you did your best. Everything will work on its own. It’s just an exam, stop fussing over it.’

This way our mind will get reassurance that nothing wrong will happen to us and it will thus stay calm.

5. Start Writing About Your Feelings:

Words cannot express everything a person wants to say. And our mind keeps on thinking about all the unsaid conversations it wants to have.

This constant feeling of ‘Damn, Why didn’t I say this during the argument!’; lets our mind make us think that we are unworthy and we cannot even talk. This can be controlled By Writing.

Start writing all your unspoken inner emotions every day in a journal. This might include even the silliest feeling of yours. It will give you an outlook on what triggers you and what gives you peace.

And after a certain point, you can control your mind by analyzing all the facts in your journal of feelings.

6. Take Care Of Your Health:

A lazy brain always keeps itself busy with random unnecessary thoughts resulting in analyzing all the negative events that had happened in your life. This when continued makes you physically inactive and you feel a sense of low energy.

But if you sleep early, eat a balanced meal, wake up early, drink lots of water and perform any kind of physical activity like- exercise, swimming, and dancing every day then your body will become healthy and energetic.

While your mind will release stress, anxiety, worries and make you cheerful.

Thus, to control your mind it is very important to stay active physically along with all the mind games you practice. Hence, ‘Dance Away Your Stress.’

7. Express Gratitude To God:

Make it a habit to say “Thank you to your God for all the highlights and bumps of the day before going to Sleep. This will make your mind calm and make you feel happy and content.

Once you start showing him gratitude you will not feel restless and understand that no matter what God is there with you. This way your mind comes under a happy environment and does not create bad situations before bed.

So here’s your chance to take charge of what goes on in your mind and life. Start practicing at least 2 of these techniques every day to see changes in your reactions before and after you start them.

As they say, ‘ Your life is what you make of it.’ Hence, from now on live it like you are the only one responsible for your journey and never regret any time wasted on the past failures, heartbreaks, or low self-esteem phase.
